Thunder Cove Wellness Services is a virtual psychotherapy practice based in Ontario, Canada, offering services to adults aged 18 and over across the province. The practice is led by Elise Rosner, a Registered Social Service Worker (R.S.S.W.) and a member of the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW). We are committed to protecting your privacy in accordance with Ontario’s Personal Health Information Protection Act (PHIPA) and Canada’s Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA).

To provide psychotherapy services, we collect the following types of personal information:
 

  • Full name and contact information

  • Date of birth

  • Emergency contact details

  • Health history and current concerns

  • Session notes and assessments

  • Payment and billing information
     

This information is collected with your consent and only what is necessary to provide you with effective care.

By starting therapy at Thunder Cove Wellness Services, you provide informed consent for the collection and use of your personal health information as described above. All personal information is kept confidential except in the following cases:
 

  • When you provide written consent to share information with another party

  • When disclosure is required by law (e.g., risk of serious harm to self or others, suspected abuse, court order)

  • For supervision or consultation purposes (information is shared in a de-identified manner)
     

6. Online Therapy Privacy Practices

Because Thunder Cove Wellness Services is a virtual practice, sessions are conducted online using a secure, PHIPA-compliant video platform. We take the following steps to ensure the privacy and confidentiality of your sessions:

  • A secure platform is used for video therapy (NOUSTALK)

  • No sessions are recorded or stored without your express, written consent

  • You are encouraged to attend sessions from a private, quiet location to maintain your own confidentiality

  • Emails and messages are only used for administrative purposes, such as scheduling and billing
     

Please note that while every effort is made to ensure online privacy, there is always some level of inherent risk with internet-based communication. If you ever have concerns, feel free to raise them with your therapist at any time.
 

7. Storage and Security

Your records are stored securely using encrypted, password-protected systems. We take reasonable steps to protect your information from loss, unauthorized access, or disclosure.

Clinical notes and documents are retained for a minimum of ten (10) years after your last session, or longer if required by law.

8. Your Rights

​

You have the right to:
 

  • Access your personal health records

  • Request corrections to your records

  • Withdraw or modify consent

  • Ask how your information has been shared
     

To make a request, please contact your therapist directly.
 

9. Third-Party Services
 

If we use third-party platforms for video sessions, scheduling, or billing, we ensure they meet privacy and security standards appropriate for healthcare providers in Ontario. These may include services such as NOUSTALK, which are PHIPA-compliant.
